Unusual Happenings and Dinner Puns

My sister shared this on Facebook earlier:

New Years Eve, 1000 dead birds fell from the sky in Arkansas. A few days later, 500 more dropped in Louisiana. More fell in Kentucky, East Texas, and Sweden. Then, 100,000 dead fish washed ashore in another part of Arkansas, and more in Florida and Brazil. Plus, 40,000 dead crabs washed ashore in England.

And apparently, they all have completely unrelated logical explanations. Ok then…

We were discussing it at dinner and, as usual, the conversation took a rather amusing turn. Sometimes it kind of freaks me out that my sister and I think so alike. First we both simultaneously suggested aliens as the reason (don’t look at me like that, it’s a perfectly logical explanation), and then we simultaneously (and I do mean simultaneously) suggested the Swarm (from Frank Schätzing’s THE SWARM).

Sister then pointed out a flaw in our logic: the Swarm is ocean based, and birds are not.

ME: Ahh, but the whole situation is fishy.

SISTER: *rolls eyes* You’re going to make me crabby…

DAD (simultaneously with my sister): That’s such a bird-brained argument.

Meanwhile, my mom just sit there and groaned at the three of us. Usually my dad and sister are the punny ones; it can get pretty hilarious, actually.

I’ll say one thing: family dinners are never boring.
