Fringe: “Nothing As It Seems” - New Footage or Old?
Some of us were debating about last week’s FRINGE ep and whether they reshot the teaser or used old footage, since it matches the season 1 episode “The Transformation” so closely.. I was still curious, so I asked the director. From Fred Toye:
No, we only shot the scene where Bowman looks and his eyes turn yellow and the moment where the air Marshall opens the door. It was a challenge to match the location and make it look the same since the season 1 shoot was on 35mm film and now we shoot HD. Thought the Cameraman did a great job! Obviously the whole sequence in the TCA was new.
The Multiple Observer Conundrum
For all you FRINGE fans out there: time to vote! Yesterday they were filming a scene with many of the follicularly-challenged enigmas, which led to a discussion on Twitter about what exactly we ought to call large gatherings of Observers. There were a lot of awesome, hilarious, and brilliant suggestions, all of which I’ve included below (in no particular order).

How to closetalk.: Fame, insincerity and other weird things
I haven’t really weighed in on the whole “OMG Jasika Nicole quit Twitter!” thing because while I do adore FRINGE (and here those of you who know me are probably rolling their eyes at the understatement of the century), I felt no need to comment on what is obviously - although apparently not to some - simply a personal choice. And if someone quitting Twitter, for whatever reason, makes you feel outraged, I think you need some experience with real-life issues and stressors, because seriously, people…
Since I can’t possibly phrase it any better than this, give the blog post below a read. Even if you don’t agree with everything, or if you’ve been one of the people completely outraged by the whole thing, please just take a second to sit back and think about the issue from someone else’s perspective.
For what it’s worth: I’ve lost no respect for Jasika in all of this. If anything, I respect her more for how she’s responded in the aftermath.
THIS IS THE LAST OF IT fellow tumblrers, i swear….no more after this! it’s just so good, tho!
Following up a bit on the Jasika Nicole thing …
Some folks seem to think she’s being ungrateful. Which, A) she isn’t and B) dude, that’s icky. It sounds like some creeper telling…

FRINGE - Two Nadines and the Composer. (Or, from left to right, me, composer Chris Tilton, and actress Michelle Krusiec, who played the shapeshifter Nadine/Seven earlier this season).
I know some of you have seen this on Twitter already, but I’ve had quite a few questions about it. I was down in LA for a holiday, and Chris was awesome enough to invite me along to the Fringe recording sessions that coincided with my being in town. I watched them score the next two episodes, and I can tell you that even without dialogue they look highly intriguing!
And just for the record, as good as the soundtrack sounds during the episode, it’s a million times better hearing it live. That is one seriously talented group of people!
Fringe Review: "Nothing As It Seems"
My thoughts on last night’s ep… Who else loved it?!?
